Alexander, on life changes.

Alexander: I have begun to eat meat again and stopped recycling; it’s doing wonders for my creative flow.

Two friends, on art.

Cecily: Your art always has a peace to it. This seems at odds with your mental state at times.

Arnaud: My states of mind are the consequence of the gap between what I would like the world to be – peaceful, intelligent, etc. – and what it is in actuality.

Cecily, on herself.

Cecily: Horizontal mobility would suit me just as well as upward mobility in this life. I have already reached a level of refinement and class unrivalled, and now I seek to enrich my experience, broadly and without apology.

Sisters, on abs.

Delilah: You seem slightly flattened.

Cecily: Flattened how? Empty? Somebody told me that the other day. I think I’m waiting for something exciting to happen and ruining other people’s exciting lives in the process. This is because I am a heartless succubus that enjoys sucking the life out of others for my personal pleasure.

Delilah: Jesus, I was just talking about your abs.

Cecily: How can you see my abs?

Delilah: That was a joke; a line to contrast the near tide of somewhat uncharacteristic personal revelation.

Two strangers, on life.

Yann: You cannot be real. I bet you’re a spam cyborg.

Cecily: I am certainly a cyborg, but not a spam one. Are you one of “us”?

Yann: I… I’m not sure… I travel around the world, looking for answers. I hope to eventually find out who I am.

Cecily: You’ll probably find you’re human. That would be the best end.
